The Highlands and Islands Students' Association (HISA) seeks to recruit for its Board of Trustees, to guide the Students’ Association through one of the most exciting and innovative educational environments in the UK.
This position is available to any current student from across the University of the Highlands and Islands partnership. It is a voluntary position for at least one year, with various benefits for those students wishing to develop their employability skills in a professional environment.
Becoming a trustee of HISA is an enjoyable and exciting opportunity to make a difference to students' lives. The trustees play a vital role, volunteering their time to make important decisions about HISA’s work, with overall control of the charity and influence over how HISA staff and officers achieve their key strategic aims.
The Board of Trustees is made up of:
Principal Officers of HISA (President, VPFE and VPHE)
Three student trustees
Four external (non-student) trustees
The successful candidate should have an interest in guiding HISA’s overall direction, monitoring our finances and risks, and taking an overall interest in the work of the Students’ Association. Time commitments are likely to be based around 4-5 meetings per year plus reading. Previous experience as a trustee is not required and full training will be provided.

We are very excited to announce that the Activities team are looking for students to put themselves forwards as a Sports Ambassador. The role will be to ultimately promote Sports across the University and create a sporting culture for the wonderful students we home in the Highlands and Islands. As a Sports Ambassador, you will represent, promote and enhance the positive values of sport and physical activity to both current and prospective students through a range of initiatives both on and off campus and examples of volunteer tasks you would be partaking in would be;
