Inverness College Powerlifting Club

Description

We are Inverness college's first Powerlifting club. Powerlifting is a rapidly growing competitive sport where athletes compete to lift the most weight across three lifts (squat, bench, deadlift). The sport is separated into gender and weight classes, so if you're a 6"3, 230lbs man or a 4"5, 140lbs woman, it won't matter; there is a place for you to compete fairly within the sport.

Club president: Robert Scobbie

Hello, my name is Robert Scobbie, and I am a student at Inverness college studying my HND with aspirations to pursue my BSc (Hons) in sport and fitness. I am also a competitive powerlifter competing in the Scottish championships. I will be running training sessions to teach new members the sport of powerlifting, and I'm happy to work with anyone, ranging from experienced athletes to complete novices. I am a qualified, experienced gym instructor and fully first aid trained.

For membership, we are looking to hold practice once a week at the Inverness college campus. There is no joining or membership fee, simply come along and participate. We will, however, be looking to put together a team of the top lifters to represent Inverness college in the Scottish Universities championships in 2023. This will require selected members to pay for a membership to Scottish powerlifting and the entry fee for the competition. For those not interested in competing, we still highly recommend you come down and participate in training as it will help build confidence, maturity and self-belief.

If you're interested, please email Robert.scobbie@outlook.com or send a message to @Robert.scobbie_powerlifting on Instagram.
