Events are one of the core elements of a students’ association and of student groups. Don't worry if you have never organised one, we're more than happy to help! We can offer the use of on campus facilities, advertising and a range of advice. Examples of events student groups have ran in the past include ceilidhs, Christmas parties, drag shows triathlons - be as creative as you wish!

Before you set up an event, you will have to fill out event planning document and a risk assessment and send those to your local team and the Activities Team. This is for both your members’ safety and to protect us if something does go wrong. If an accident occurs, please go to Risk and Insurance section.

In terms of publicity, you can make posters, handouts on free platforms such as Canva to increase your visibility on campus. We recommend using Eventbrite for larger scale events.

Fundraising events

One way to increase your budget is by organising fundraising events. We had a range of wonderful events ranging from bake sales, raffles, sponsored events such as football games or open water swims, a drag show. More ideas are pub quizzes, funny photo contests or a board game tournament. This is a great way to interact with your local student body and your local community if it outwith your campus.
